Brevard scores a late goal to edge Covenant 2-1

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga.- Megan Shina's late goal powered Brevard to a 2-1 victory over Covenant.

Brevard (6-3) was held without a goal for the first half, before Shina scored both goals to help Brevard earn the win.

Defensively the Tornados held the Scots to eight total shots on the match, with goalkeeper Rebeccah Rojas recording three saves.

After a scoreless first half, Shina found the back of the net in the 47th minute to give the Tornados the lead.

In the 59th minute, Covenant's Paige Simons scored from 15 yards out to tie the match at one.

As regulation was nearing the end with the match tied, Shina beat the defender in front of her and nailed a shot on the right side of the net to give Brevard the 2-1 advantage in the 84th minute.

The Scots could not find another opportunity to score in the match, as Brevard held Covenant without a shot in the final 34 minutes of the match.

With the victory today, Brevard has now doubled their win total from a season ago.

Brevard will travel to Piedmont on October 3rd for their next contest.
