Brevard women's soccer team opens the season at St. Andrews

BREVARD, N.C.- The Brevard women's soccer team travels to St. Andrews on Saturday for their first regular season match.

The Tornados are looking to have a bounce back season after finishing the 2016 campaign 3-13-1.

Freshman goalkeeper Rebeccah Rojas will be taking over the starting net minders spot following the departure of Laurel Neuzil.

On the offensive end of the field, the team returns five of their top eight total point scorers from a season ago in Ashley Hughes, Caroline David, Kathleen Gant, Audrey Cardwell and Kaylee Smith.

The Tornados are also looking to score on a tough goalie in Rachel Widdicks, who posted an astounding 0.87 GAA during her 2016 season with the Knights.

The matchup Saturday in Laurinburg, N.C. will be the first meeting between the two schools since Brevard moved to the NCAA ranks in 2008.
