
DANVILLE, Va. - The Brevard College women's lacrosse team (2-1) fell for the first time in the 2023 season, as the Tornados fell to Averett University (2-0) 21-4 on Saturday afternoon in Danville, Virginia.
The Cougars used a 14-2 stretch in the first half to open up a big lead and did not look back, outscoring BC 9-2 down the stretch for the 17-goal victory.
Savannah Colliver scored a team-high two goals, while Paige Kneubuhler and Parker Moore added a goal and an assist each. Moore won seven draw controls while Lex MacLauchlin stopped seven shots.
The Cougars held a 36-10 shot advantage and grabbed 16 ground balls. The hosts converted all 13 of their clear attempts and held a 16-11 edge in draw controls.
The Tornados will look to bounce back as Brevard continues their spring break trip on Monday, March 6 as BC faces Sweet Briar College at 1 p.m. on the road.
