Tornados Fall to Bears in Non-Conference Tussle

CLEVELAND, Ga. - The Brevard College women's lacrosse team (0-2) fell to the host Truett McConnell Bears (1-2), 17-6 on Tuesday afternoon on the road in Cleveland, Georgia. 

Freshman attacker Autumn Kraemer led the Tornados in goals for the second-straight match, logging three scores on Tuesday. Kraemer scored on each of the shots that she took while also recording two assists on the afternoon for five points. Thus far in the early goings of 2020, Kraemer has tallied eight goals and two assists for a team-high 10 points. 

Seniors Micaiah Vacchiano and Kelly Wilkins each added scores, while sophomore Hannah Scharf notched a goal in the performance as well. Freshman goalkeeper Carlie Henning saved a career-best 15 shots while facing an onslaught of 30 shots-on-frame. 

The Bears were led by Hope Foster's five-goal performance offensively, while TMU's Carter Culverhouse added four goals. 

Truett McConnell forced a total of 22 Tornado turnovers in the contest, while grabbing 28 total ground balls. The Bears held a 40-9 shooting advantage overall in the match, while winning 16 draw controls to BC's eight. Truett McConnell put in a total of four free-position shots of its 17 total scores. 

BC now will prepare for its home opener in 15 days when the Tornados welcome Johnson & Wales University-Denver to Ives-Lemel Family Field on Wednesday, March 4 at 6 p.m. The contest marks Boys & Girls Club Day for the BC women's lacrosse program.
