BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College Women's Lacrosse team (6-7, 3-5 USAS) fell 17-3 to USA South opponent Methodist (3-7, 2-5 USAS) on Saturday evening at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

The Tornados scored three goals with Jezika Gunter, Micaiah Vacchiano and Hunter Denney each finding the back of the net.  BC goalkeeper Katherine Collins registered nine saves.

Methodist ran out to a 5-0 lead in the first ten minutes of the contest as Lily Eisenhart scored three of her game-high five goals in the first seven minutes.

With 18:35 remaining in the opening half, Gunter scored to cut the deficit to 5-1.  After Methodist scored a goal at the 16:58 mark, the Tornados cut the deficit down to four goals for a second time on an unassisted goal by Vacchiano.

Methodist, however, would score five unanswered goals to end the first half and take an 11-2 lead into the intermission.

The Methodist scoring run continued in the opening minutes of the second half, taking a 14-2 lead with 23 minutes remaining in regulation.

Down two players due to penalties, Denney scored BC's final goal of the contest at the 18:34 mark.  Playing shorthanded, the Tornados would be shut out from there as Methodist extended its lead to 17-3 to secure the victory.

The two teams were equal in both turnovers (21-21) and ground balls (22-22).  Methodist however greatly out-shot the Tornados with a 36-12 advantage.

The game also marked Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day as the Tornado student-athletes recognized those Brevard College faculty and staff members that have made a special impact.  The faculty and staff members were recognized in a special halftime ceremony.

Brevard returns to action with a USA South home game vs. Meredith on Saturday, April 13 at 11 a.m. at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
