Full Recap to Follow

MONTREAT, N.C. - Michaiah Vacchiano dazzled with a career-high eight goals in her 2019 debut as the Brevard College Tornados Women's Lacrosse team (2-0) dominated on the road against Montreat College (1-1), winning 18-1 on Tuesday evening.

Vacchiano led all scorers with eight goals on 12 shots-on-goal, while also scooping up three ground balls for the Tornados, who start 2-0 for the first time in the program's six-year history.

Jezika Gunter added four goals, scoring on every single shot that she took on the evening. Gunter improves her team-leading goal tally to 10 on the young 2019 season.

Kelly Wilkins and Hannah Scharf each tallied two goals apiece, while Scharf added an assist to her efforts.

Hunter Denney, the Tornados' lone graduating senior, showcased great distribution by assisting on three goals while scoring one of her own.

BC's backline defense of Nicole O'Connor, Diana Loaiza, Tabor Ryan, and freshman goalkeeper Katherine Collins stifled the Montreat attack for the entire 60 minutes, allowing just one goal on 11 shots faced.

Collins (2-0) recorded six saves in just her second collegiate start, building upon a solid outing against Brenau to open the season.

The Tornados outshot Montreat by a staggering 34-11 total while going 2-for-4 on free position shots.

Brevard will seek to build upon its impressive 2-0 start when it heads to Lynchburg, Va. on Saturday, February 23 for a non-conference test against NCAA DIII opponent Randolph College. The action is set to begin at 1 p.m.
