 Women’s Lacrosse Announces 2019 Schedule

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College Tornados Women's Lacrosse team has announced its 2019 schedule which features seven home matches (including one exhibition) within the friendly confines of Ives-Lemel Field.

"As always, we are looking forward to another competitive season in the USA South," stated Head Coach Kristin Rosato on the upcoming 2019 slate of opponents. "Our conference has some really great teams in it and we are going to need to work all season long in order to really be successful."

Coach Rosato begins her fourth season at the helm of Tornado Women's Lacrosse with a pair of exhibition matches. The 2019 Tornados travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to face NCAA DII member institution Converse College on Saturday, February 2 at 3 p.m. before hosting the NAIA's Columbia College (S.C.) on Wednesday, February 6 at 5 p.m.

Tornados Women's Lacrosse kicks off the 2019 regular season by hosting Brenau University on Saturday, February 9 at 3 p.m. The matchup marks the inaugural meeting between the two schools in Women's Lacrosse.

Brevard then hits the road for a three-game road swing. First, the Tornados head up to Montreat, N.C. to match up with local rival Montreat College on Tuesday, February 19 at 5 p.m. Next up on the docket for Brevard is a trip to Lynchburg, Virginia to face Randolph College on Saturday, February 23 at 1 p.m. The Tornados close out their road trip and the month of February with a haul to Waleska, Georgia for a mid-week tussle against Reinhardt University on Wednesday, February 27 at 6 p.m.

Brevard then opens USA South Conference play against Pfeiffer University on Saturday, March 9 at 2 p.m. The match marks the first BC Lacrosse doubleheader of 2019, as the Men's squad hosts Ohio Northern at 11 a.m. The bout against Pfeiffer also marks BC Women's Lacrosse's first official game as a member of the USA South. The Tornados played through a conference schedule in 2018, however, they were ineligible for a regular season title, weekly, and postseason individual honors.

The Tornados close out their homestand against conference foe Salem College on Sunday, March 10 at 1 p.m. BC shut Salem out in emphatic fashion last season, winning 26-0 on the road. The victory marked Brevard's first win of 2018.

Brevard then embarks on a season-long five-game road trip. The trip starts by heading to LaGrange. Ga. for a conference match against LaGrange College on Saturday, March 16 at 3 p.m. The Tornados took a 16-11 victory last season against the Panthers of LaGrange. After the LaGrange trip, the Tornados will make the trek down to Montgomery, Ala. to face Huntingdon College on Sunday, March 17 at 2 p.m. ET.

Brevard faces its first three-match week in the following week. The Tornados travel to Demorest, Georgia to battle Piedmont College on Wednesday, March 27 at 6 p.m. Brevard then heads to Greensboro, N.C. to face in-state rival Greensboro College on Saturday, March 30 at 12 p.m. before closing the month of March out with a match the following day in Rocky Mount, N.C. against N.C. Brevard and in-state rival Methodist University square off on Saturday, April 6 at 5 p.m. at Ives-Lemel field to open up the Tornados' homestand. Brevard fell 15-7 a season ago when the two sides met in Fayetteville, N.C.

Brevard then gears up for back-to-back home matches to close out its 2019 home slate. The Tornados do battle with Meredith College on Saturday, April 13 at 11 a.m. before facing William Peace University on Sunday, April 14 at 1 p.m.

The Tornados wrap up the 2019 regular season with a trip to Danville, Va. for a match against Averett University on Friday, April 19 at 3 p.m.

Along with being eligible for USA South regular season honors, the Tornados will seek entry into the ECAC postseason. Brevard College joined the ECAC while in the midst of NCAA Division III reclassification, and the 2018 Brevard College Tornados Women's Soccer team became the first Brevard College team to compete in the ECAC postseason in the fall.

The Brevard College Tornados Women's Lacrosse team made a difference off the field, serving in the community throughout the fall. The squad compiled over 110 hours of community service since the start of the academic year.

"I am very eager to get going with this season," added Coach Rosato. "This is a young team, but the dedication and drive they have is pretty amazing to see and I am excited to see where we go this spring."
