Tornados Host Averett on Saturday

BREVARD, N.C. – After posting a 21-7 victory over Felician on Wednesday afternoon the Brevard women's lacrosse team returns to Ives-Lemel Field on Saturday at 12 p.m. to square off against Averett.

The Tornados, who picked up their second win of the season, were led by the tandem of Nina Siu, who scored nine goals, and Victoria Hayes, who finished with six.

Siu tallied at least four goals for the fourth time this season and established her career-high as she now leads all Tornado scorers with 28 goals. Hayes' six-goal outing ties her career best, previously set against Reinhardt on April 4, 2017, and has now scored at least three goals on four occasions in 2018.

Brevard also received multiple goals from Hunter Denney (three) and Kelly Kearnan (two). The remaining goal of the afternoon came from Macaiah Vacchiano. Senior netminder Shelby Arsenault picked up her second win of the season in goal, finishing with six saves, including five in the second half.

Averett (3-4) is riding a two-game winning streak heading into weekend, posting a 14-5 win over Randolph College (March 3) and a 18-6 victory against Chatham University (March 7).

The Cougars have four players who have tallied double figure goals including Elizabeth Peasley, who leads the team with 29 (six assists; 35 points). Alixis Roccia is second on the team with 16 goals, while Shayla Johnson and Gabbie Porter have scored 15 and 10 goals, respectively.

Breanne Sawall has logged all 423 minutes in goal for Averett, making 65 saves (48.1 save pct.) among her 172 shots faced.
