Brevard Returns Home to Face Greensboro

BREVARD, N.C.- Following their setback to Methodist on Feb. 17, Brevard will take on Greensboro at Ives-Lemel Field on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Brevard (0-3) was in a back-and-forth battle with Methodist in the first half, even taking the lead on two separate occasions in the first 30 minutes. However, the Monarchs were able to play stifling defense in the second half to take home the 15-7 win. Victoria Hayes led all scorers for Brevard, as she was able to tally a hat-trick for the Tornados.

On the season, a trio of seniors lead the team in scoring, with Nina Siu in first with eight goals, followed by Hayes (seven) and Kelly Kearnan (three). Sophomore Micaiah Vacchiano is tied with Kearnan for third on the team with three goals scored this season.

Defensively the Tornados have lead the turnover margin (32-31, +1) against their opponents, with Kearnan leading the way with seven caused turnovers. In the net, goalkeeper Shelby Arsenault has racked up 35 saves on the season, good for second in the USA South Conference in saves recorded.

Greensboro (0-2) also heads into the game searching for their first win of the season, as the team has lost home games to Virginia Wesleyan and Pfeiffer to begin their season. Senior Natalie Ritchey leads The Pride with five total points (four goals, one assist) so far this season.
