Tornados Head to Fayetteville for Clash with Methodist

BREVARD, N.C. – In search of their first win of the season, the Brevard women's lacrosse team treks to Fayetteville on Saturday to face Methodist at 1 p.m.

The Tornados (0-2) have suffered setbacks this season at Mars Hill (13-10) and in their home debut against the University of the Cumberlands (22-4). Brevard is led offensively by the combination of Nina Siu (six goals), Victoria Hayes (four), Kelly Kearnan (two) and Micaiah Vacchiano (two) on the early season.

Hayes was the primary source of offense for the Tornados in Tuesday's meeting with the University of the Cumberlands, netting two goals. Joining her with goals for Brevard were Kelly Kearnan and Micaiah Vacchiano, who netted finished with one each.

Methodist, who was picked finish sixth in the preseason USA South polls, got its season off to a rocky start with a 22-7 loss to Roanoke on Saturday, Feb. 10.

Madison Ronelli and Monti Hendrix each scored three goals for the Monarchs (0-1). Ronelli added seven draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers, and Hendrix had six ground balls and a pair of draw controls. Sara Ewin led the Monarchs with three caused turnovers.

Behind four early goals from Katie Clements, the Maroons opened a 7-0 lead 13 minutes into the contest before MU got on the board.
