FLETCHER, N.C. – The Brevard golf program had three top five finishers in the Mars Hill Invitational that concluded on Tuesday afternoon at the Broadmoor Golf Links. Austin Fisher (second place) and Calum McAndrew (tied-third) represented the men's team, while Kelsie Rhyne (fifth) was the top women's player for the Tornados.

Fisher wrapped up the two-day event with scores of 76 and 71 (147), finishing three shots off the pace set by Mars Hill's Harry Butler. Butler took home the individual crown with an even score of 144 after carding 73 and 71.

McAndrew was six shots back of the leader and three shy of his teammate with a two-day score of 150. After struggling with a 78 on the opening day of competition, which had him in ninth, McAndrew rebounded to shoot an even par 72 on the Tuesday to finish in a four-way tie for third alongside Logan Holbrook (Capital), Cory Sealander (Pfeiffer) and Hunter Dillard (Pfeiffer).

Rhyne moved two spots up the leaderboard to fifth with a second round 81 as she closed with a 166 (+22) on the tournament. She was 10 strokes behind Pfeiffer's Meghan Holbrooks, who won the women's individual title with a 156 (81-75, +12). Rhyne, who wrapped up her basketball season over the weekend has now recorded a double-double (Feb. 23), a career-high 21-point outing (Feb. 24), an opening round 85 and capped off the tournament in fifth over a four-day span.

The Tornado men's golf team wrapped up the event in third, tallying a combined score of 615 (322-293, +29). Senior Craig Stephen opened the fall slate tied for 17th by shaving 10 strokes off his opening round 84 to finish with a 158 (84-74; +14).

Teammates Thomas Purcell, who closed with a 160 (84-76; +16) and Declan Addison (169—88-81; +25) completed the team scorecard. Brevard's Hugo Herrera, competing unattached, finished the event in a five-way tie for 19th as he tallied a 159 (85-74; +15).

The women's team capped off the tournament sixth with a combined score of 754 (380-374; +178). Taylor Scovel joined Rhyne among top 20 finishers as she tied Alivia Daniels (Montreat) for 20th with a 190 (99-91; +46).

Courtney Sharp (195—96-99) and Ashley Holland (203—100-103) placed 25th and 26th, respectively, to wrap up the Brevard scoring.

The men's team will compete next week at Catawba's Richard Rendleman Invitational (March 5-6) while the women head to the Montreat Open (March 5-6).
