Tornados Improve to 3-1 with Dominant Win over Toccoa Falls

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College Women's Basketball team (3-1) won in dominant fashion over visiting Toccoa Falls (1-8) 72-45 on Wednesday evening at the Boshamer Gymnasium.

The Tornados were led offensively by Destiny Williams who scored 20 points on 10-of-17 shooting.  Breana Ware also scored in double figures with 11 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting off the bench.

Avery Lockwood led all players on the glass with 14 rebounds, including five offensive boards to go along with six points, three steals and two assists.

Brevard controlled the action from the opening tip and never trailed in the contest.  The Tornados started the game on a 10-0 run which was culminated with a blocked shot by Williams that turned into a fast-break layup on the other side of the court.

After leading 19-12 after the first quarter, BC stretched its lead to 19 points in the second quarter taking a comfortable 40-21 lead into halftime.

The lead bulged to as many as 25 points in the third quarter as the Tornados went on to cruise to victory in the second half highlighted by an 11-0 run in the fourth quarter.

BC outshot Toccoa Falls 46% to 33% from the field.  The Tornados were even more dominant on the boards, out-rebounding the visitors 44-30 including a 19-7 advantage on the offensive glass.

The Tornados were also able to control the tempo and create several transition opportunities with 22 fast-break points aided by 18 steals.  Ty'She Washington and Deja Riddick led all players with four steals and nine Tornados registered at least one steal.

Brevard returns to action Thursday with another non-conference home game against Bob Jones.  Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
