The 2018-19 season marks the first season that the BC Tornados Women's Basketball team are eligible for distinctions such as all-conference, player of the week, and a regular season championship. The Tornados won't be able to compete in the USA South Conference tournament due to NCAA reclassification, however, the Tornados are able to compete in the ECAC postseason, if selected.

The USA South preseason coaches' poll tabbed Berea College as preseason favorites for the West Division. The Mountaineers went 23-4 last season, finishing with a 12-2 record against USA South competition. Berea reached the USA South tournament finals before falling to Piedmont College.

Head Women's Basketball Coach Donald Hudson enters his third season at the helm of BC Tornados Women's Basketball. Hudson enjoyed success in the 2017-18 campaign, as Brevard finished with a 12-13 record, its best record in NCAA-era program history. BC also found success against USA South competition. Although not counting towards a conference regular-season title in 2017-18 due to NCAA reclassification, Brevard recorded a 9-11 mark against teams currently in the USA South Conference.

The USA South East Division was headlined by fellow NCAA Division III provisional member Pfeiffer. The Falcons received 60 total points in the poll, including five total first-place votes. Like Brevard, Pfeiffer will also be eligible for a regular season title in 2018-19. Pfeiffer reached the ECAC playoffs last season, falling in the first round.

Brevard College will open its 2018-19 schedule on Friday, November 9 as they travel to Toccoa, Ga. to take on the Toccoa Falls Eagles at 6 p.m. Coach Hudson and the 2018-19 Tornados will make their home debut on Thursday, November 15 at 6 p.m. against Berry College. The Tornados enjoyed a 7-4 home record last season en route to a 12-13 overall record.
