Women's Basketball Looks for Sweep of LaGrange, Huntingdon

BREVARD, N.C.- After ending their three-game slide on Wednesday night in a win against Piedmont, the Brevard women's basketball team will go on the road this weekend looking to complete season sweeps of LaGrange and Huntingdon.

Brevard (11-9) was able to avenge their loss to Piedmont on Jan. 23rd and ran away with the 60-45 win in Boshamer Gymnasium. In the game the Tornados never trailed and held the Lions to two single-digit scoring quarters, as the defense limited them to eight points 1st quarter and three points 3rd quarter. The game also marked the seventh time this season where the Tornados held their opponent to under 50 points.

On the offensive end of the floor against Piedmont, three players recorded double-digits in scoring with freshman Ty'She Washington leading the way with a game-high 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Senior Kelsie Rhyne and junior Annalee Bollinger each recorded 10 points on the night.

In the last meeting with Huntingdon on Jan. 7th, the Tornados defense put the clamps on the Hawks, as Huntingdon did not record a 3-pointer and Brevard came away with the 58-46 win at home.

The last time Brevard tangled with LaGrange, the Tornados recorded their second-best scoring night of the season in the 80-62 win on Jan. 27th. In that game, Bollinger recorded her fifth 20-point outing of the season to lead all scorers with 22 points in the game.

LaGrange (10-13) heads into the game riding a two game winning streak, and will host Brevard for their final home game of the season. Lauren Johnson scored a team-high 18 points in the last meeting, and leads the team with 14.7 points per game this year.

Huntingdon (15-8) is on a three-game winning streak, and has also been playing stellar defense by holding their last three opponents to 50 points per game. Juliette Harp leads the team with 17.7 points per game and 14.1 rebounds per game, and is one of four players in the USA South Conference to average a double-double during the 2017-18 campaign.

Tip off from LaGrange is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, and the game against Huntingdon will start at 2:00 p.m. EST on Sunday.
