Brevard Hosts Agnes Scott, Huntingdon

BREVARD, N.C.- After going on the road to take on two Division I opponents in the past week, Brevard women's basketball returns to Boshamer Gymnasium for back-to-back home games this weekend against Agnes Scott and Huntingdon.

Brevard (4-5) was riding a two-game winning streak before the Tornados traveled to Cullowhee on Dec. 31, 2017 to take on Western Carolina, where the Catamounts controlled the glass and shot the ball efficiently en route to a 79-34 win. Brevard then went on the road to take on USC Upstate in an exhibition, where the Spartans used hot shooting to take home the 109-39 victory.

On the season Brevard has played stifling defense in their four victories, holding their opponents to an average of 50.5 points in those games, while forcing 11 steals and 2.8 blocks per contest.

Offensively, Annalee Bollinger continues to lead the team in scoring with 15.8 points per game, while dishing out 3.1 assists per game. Bollinger has also reached double-digits in scoring in eight of Brevard's nine games in the 2017-18 campaign.

On the defensive end of the floor, freshman Destiny Williams leads the team in steals (1.9) and blocks (0.6) per game, while senior Whitney DeMoss continues to lead the team in rebounding with 8.1 boards per contest.

The Tornado's Saturday afternoon opponent is Agnes Scott (1-11), a team that is on an 11-game losing skid, with their only win coming in their first game of the season against Rust in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.

Agnes Scott is led by sophomore Garis Grant, who is only one of four players in the USA South Conference to average a double-double on the season, with 15.4 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. Grant also leads the conference in blocks per game (3.1).

On Sunday, Huntingdon (9-3) comes into Brevard coming off a loss to Greensboro on Dec. 30, 2017, but is tied for third in the USA South Conference West Division.

The Hawks are led by Juliette Harp, who is also one of four players in the USA South Conference to average a double-double on the season with 18.4 points per game and a conference-high 15.3 rebounds per game. Harp only trails Grant in the conference in blocks per game (2.7)

Tip off for the game against Agnes Scott will be slated for 2 p.m. on January 6th, while the game against Huntingdon is set to start at 1 p.m. on January 7th.
