Women’s Hoops Returns to Action Versus St. Andrews

BREVARD, N.C. – After a 19-day break in its schedule, the Brevard women's basketball team returns to action on Thursday, Dec. 28, when it hosts St. Andrews at Boshamer Gym at 5:30 p.m.

The game, which marks the Tornados second at home this season, will give Brevard the opportunity to move to .500 following a 55-47 victory over Bob Jones in its last outing.

Through its first seven games Brevard is led offensively by the trio of Annalee Bollinger (16.7 ppg), Ty'She Washington (9.9) and Destiny Williams (8.9), while Whitney DeMoss has controlled the glass by pulling down 8.6 rebounds per contest.

Bollinger has also played a key role in getting her teammates involved in the offense, averaging a team-best 3.6 assists per game. She is joined in that category by the combination of Williams and Deja Riddick, dishing out 1.6 assists per game.

The Knights (4-6) come into the contest on a three-game losing streak that includes setbacks to Bryan College (82-50), Tennessee Wesleyan (72-61) and Bluefield (68-56) in succession. Leading the way for the St. Andrews offensive attack is Samantha Ring (15.3 ppg), Morgan Perkins (10.3) and Bree Cowan (10.0).

St. Andrews is averaging 69.3 points per contest through the first 10 games of the season and has been successful on 41.8 percent (260-of-622) of its field goal attempts. The biggest offensive struggles have come at the free throw line (53.8%) and from 3-point range, where the Knights are hitting 27.7 percent.
