Brevard Takes on Maryville in First Home Game of the Season

BREVARD, N.C.- The Brevard women's basketball team will host Maryville on Wednesday night in hopes of earning their second win of the season.

Tornado fans in attendance at the 7 p.m. game are encouraged to bring a contribution to SAAC Christmas Toy Drive. The contributions will be distributed by the Brevard baseball team at Mission Hospital. The biggest gift needs are for teenagers, including video games, movies, jewelry, gift cards and bath accessories.

Brevard (1-2) will play their first game since November 21, a 90-65 setback at the hands of Emory & Henry. In that game, Taryn Ledford led the Tornados in scoring (14 points) and three-point field goals (four).

Coach Donald Hudson's squad heads into the game with the advantage over Maryville (0-4) in points per game (62.0-61.3) and field goal percentage (41.7%-36.8%) on the season.

Through the first three games of the season, junior guard Annalee Bollinger leads Brevard in points (16.7) and assists (three) per game, and will look to continue her success against the Scots. Senior forward Whitney DeMoss leads the team in rebounds per game (eight), and has tallied two double-doubles so far this year.

Maryville, the 2016-17 USA South Conference regular season champions, has yet to notch a win so far, as the team went 0-2 in both the Centre College Invitational and the Pat Deacon Thanksgiving Tournament. The Scots have two players averaging double digit points on the season in senior Madison Maples (13) and senior Lauren Biliter (11.5).

The game is set to tip off from Boshamer Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
