Track & Field to Send Six Tornados to ECAC Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Following the conclusion of the 2019 Track & Field regular season, six Brevard College Tornados have qualified for the program's first-ever bid into the ECAC Championships, which will be held at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut from Wednesday, May 15 to Thursday, May 16. 

Under the direction of first-year Head Coach Darryll Patrick, BC student-athletes CJ Walton, Eddie Dean, Jamerial Parks, Kyle Fennell, and Quentin Jackson will represent Brevard on the men's side, while Ashley Jones represents the BC Women's Track & Field team. 

Fennell will compete in the Men's Shot Put, which is set for Thursday at 12 p.m. Jones will represent BC in the Women's Shot Put, slated to begin at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. 

BC's 4x100 meter relay team of Dean, Jackson, Parks, and Walton will compete at 1:10 p.m. on Thursday. The quartet closed their regular season out with a bang, placing second at the USA South Track & Field Championships in the 4x100 meter relay. 

The Tornados will also be represented in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes in Connecticut. Parks has qualified for both the 100 and 200-meter dashes after impressive finishes in the regular season. Walton will run alongside his teammate in the 100-meter, while Jackson will compete in the 200-meter for Brevard. The men's 100-meter dash prelims will commence at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the main event will take place at 2:20 p.m. on Thursday, with the men's 200-meter dash following at 3:35 p.m.

BC's venture to Connecticut will be the second time that the program has competed in an ECAC Championship this season. Brevard's Women's Soccer Team qualified for the ECAC Championships after a record-breaking regular season that saw the Tornados win 11 matches.
