  • Brevard College Athletics Announces Inaugural BC Athletics Tornado Club Auction

    The Brevard College Department of Athletics is pleased to announce its inaugural BC Athletics Tornado Club Auction. The online silent auction was made available on Monday, August 1 at 8 a.m. and runs until Wednesday, August 21 at 8 a.m., the date of the 11th annual BC Tornados Open held at the Lake Toxaway Country Club. 
  • Kielson Elevated to Assistant Softball Coach at Brevard College

    Charles Kielson has been named Assistant Softball Coach at Brevard College, announced Head Coach Bob Lowe. This past season, Kielson served as the Volunteer Assistant Coach for the BC softball team. Kielson brings a combined 20 years of coaching experience to his new position at Brevard College.
  • 91 Brevard College Student-Athletes Named USA South Academic All-Conference
    June 14, 2019
    The USA South Conference on Friday morning released its annual USA South Academic All-Conference list, selecting 91 Brevard College student-athletes as Academic All-Conference selections. Additionally, 18 student-athletes collected “With Distinction” Academic All-Conference honors, accruing at least a 3.9 grade point average in both the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Hartman, White Selected to NCCSIA All-State Teams

    Brevard College Softball student-athletes Ali Grace Hartman and Emily White were honored by the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) on Monday afternoon. Hartman was named to the College Division All-State First Team as a utility player, while White earned a nod on the College Division All-State Second Team as an infielder. The Tornados’ duo became the first-ever BC Softball student-athletes to receive NCCSIA honors. 
  • Three Tornados Garner USA South Conference Softball Divisional Honors

    The USA South Conference has released its 2019 Softball All-Conference and Division teams, tabbing three Brevard College student-athletes to the USA South Softball Division teams.  Sophomores Emily White and Mari Cook were announced as First Team West Division selections, while junior Micayla McCoy earned a Second Team West Division nod.  Brevard, along with Pfeiffer University, is eligible this season for weekly and postseason awards amidst transition into the NCAA DIII ranks. These three announcements mark the first time that BC Softball student-athletes have received postseason honors from their new conference. 
  • Brittany Franks Selected to USA South Softball All-Sportsmanship Team

    Sophomore captain Brittany Franks was named to the USA South Conference All-Sportsmanship team on Thursday morning.  The USA South Conference released its season awards after the conclusion of the USA South Softball regular season. Brevard, along with Pfeiffer University, is eligible this season for weekly and postseason awards amidst transition into the NCAA DIII ranks. 
  • Brevard Softball Closes Out 2019 With Dominant Doubleheader Sweep

    The Brevard College Tornados Softball team (17-23) finished out its 2019 regular season by taking a pair of contests from the visiting Piedmont International Bruins (8-14) at Ives-Lemel Family Field on a sunny Tuesday afternoon. Brevard hit seven extra-base hits in an 8-0 run-ruled game one victory before slugging two home runs, including a grand slam, in a 14-6 final in game two by run rule. The Tornados close out the 2019 season with a 17-23 record overall, which is six wins higher than last season and the program’s highest win total since the 2015-16 season.
  • No. 25 Piedmont Powers Past Brevard in USA South Finale
    April 10, 2019
    The Brevard College Tornados Softball team (15-22, 7-9 USAS) fell in both games of a Wednesday afternoon doubleheader to the No. 25 Piedmont Lions (25-6, 13-1 USAS) on the road in Demorest, Georgia. BC fell 9-0 in game one before a 12-4 decision in favor of Piedmont in the second game. The doubleheader marked Brevard’s last two conference contests of the 2019 season. The Lions were recently placed in the top-25 teams in the country, coming in at #25 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Coaches Poll.
  • Extra-Inning Heartbreaker Gives Hawks Doubleheader Sweep over Tornados

    The Brevard College Tornados Softball team (15-20, 7-7 USAS) dropped its second-consecutive conference doubleheader to the Huntingdon Hawks (24-12, 9-3 USAS) at Ives-Lemel Family Field on Sunday afternoon.  The Hawks of Huntingdon claimed a 7-1 victory in game one before taking a 1-0 final in extra innings later in the afternoon. 
  • Tornados Drop USA South Twin Bill to LaGrange

    The Brevard College Softball team (15-18, 7-5 USAS) dropped both games of a doubleheader vs. USA South Conference foe LaGrange on Saturday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field. LaGrange won the opener of the doubleheader 5-4, then followed with a 12-3 defeat of the Tornados in the second game of twin bill.
  • Softball Sweeps Wesleyan in Conference Doubleheader

    The Brevard College Tornados Softball Team (15-16, 7-3 USAS) picked up a doubleheader sweep over the Wolves of Wesleyan College (6-14, 1-7 USAS) on Sunday afternoon.  The Tornados pushed through late offensively in game one to claim a 3-0 victory before using a 15-hit performance to come-from-behind in the second game, 10-4.
  • McCoy's Grand Slam Propels BC to Victory over Covenant

    Micayla McCoy hit a grand slam home run to propel the Brevard College Softball team (13-16, 5-3 USAS) to a 7-4 win in the second game of a USA South conference Doubleheader over visiting Covenant (9-16, 4-4 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
  • Tornado Offense Explodes in Sweep over NCAA DII Valkyries

    The Brevard College Tornados Softball team (12-15) earned a doubleheader sweep over NCAA DII Converse College (6-28) on a sunny Wednesday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field. The Tornados took the first game, 5-2, before exploding for 11 runs in the second game for a comfortable victory, 11-2. Brevard built off of the success that it enjoyed last weekend when it collected a doubleheader sweep over USA South opponent Agnes Scott College on Saturday in Decatur, Georgia.
  • Tornados Collect Conference Sweep on the Road in Decatur

    The Brevard College Tornados Softball team (10-15, 4-2 USAS) used a 16-run outburst and solid pitching to sweep the Agnes Scott Scotties (2-18, 0-4 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at Oakhurst Park in Decatur, Georgia. The Tornados claimed an 11-2 victory in five innings via run rule in the first game, followed by a 5-3 victory in game two sparked by a Mari Cook two-run go-ahead homer.
  • Scots Storm Back in Game Two to Sweep Tornados

    The Brevard College Tornados Softball team (8-15, 2-2 USAS) dropped a USA South Conference doubleheader to the defending USA South tournament champion Maryville Scots (10-6, 2-0 USAS) on Wednesday afternoon in Maryville, Tennessee.  The Scots used a couple of big innings in the first contest to earn an 8-0 victory via run rule in five innings before using a five-run fifth inning in game two to come back on the Tornados, claiming a 5-3 triumph. 
  • Tornados Drop Doubleheader to Cougars in Virginia
    March 16, 2019
    The Brevard College Softball team (8-13) dropped both games of a doubleheader to host Averett on Saturday afternoon at Cougar Field in Danville, Virginia.  The Tornados fell in the first game 8-0, followed by an 11-0 loss in game two.
  • Hornets Take Two from Tornados in Brevard
    March 15, 2019
    The Brevard College Tornados Softball team (8-11) dropped a pair of non-conference contests against the Shenandoah University Hornets (8-7) at Ives-Lemel Family Field on Friday afternoon.  The Tornados rallied late in the first game but just fell short in a 6-5 decision. Shenandoah took control early in the back end of the doubleheader, prevailing by a final score of 9-0. 
  • Brevard Sweeps Berea in USA South Conference-Opener

    The Brevard College Tornados Softball team (8-9, 2-0 USAS) took its first two USA South Conference games of 2019, sweeping the Berea College Mountaineers (4-6, 1-3 USAS) in a Tuesday afternoon doubleheader at Ives-Lemel Family Field.  The Tornados enjoyed an offensive explosion, amassing a total of 22 runs over the two contests. Brevard shut out Berea, 9-0, in game one before coasting to a 13-2 victory in the second game. Brevard returned home for its first contest since the Tucson Invitational Games (TIG) Spring Break Tournament in Tucson, Arizona, where the Tornados played in eight games over the course of four days against NCAA DIII and NAIA competition.
  • Softball Wins Extra-Inning Thriller to Highlight Day Three in Tucson

    The Brevard College Tornados Softball Team (6-7) split a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon in Tucson, Arizona.  Game one featured plenty of drama as the Tornados escaped with a 5-4 triumph over Waldorf University (3-5) in extra-innings, scoring in the top of the final frame before turning a game-clinching double play on a fly out to secure the victory. 
  • Tornados Drop Doubleheader on Final Day in Tucson

    The Brevard College Tornados Softball Team (6-9) concluded its time in Tucson, Arizona on Friday afternoon, falling in games against Millikan University (1-1) and Dickinson State University (4-5). A big eight-run inning propelled the Big Blue of Millikan University to victory over BC, 9-0, in five innings. The Tornados then put together a spirited late-game rally against Dickinson State but came up just short in a tight, 6-5 final. 
  • Softball Dominates Day One in Tucson, Arizona

    The Brevard College Tornados Softball Team (5-4) caught fire in the desert, scoring 23 runs and claiming two victories in two games against fellow NCAA DIII opponent North Central University (Minn.) (0-4) on the first day of action for BC in the Tucson Invitational Games (TIG) Spring Break Tournament in Tucson, Az.
  • Baldwin Wallace Takes Two from Brevard in Tucson

    The Brevard College Tornados Softball team (5-6) fell in a doubleheader to Baldwin Wallace (5-1) at the Tucson Invitational Games (TIG) Spring Break Tournament in Tucson, Arizona. The Tornados fell in a tightly contested first game, 3-1, before dropping a 7-1 decision in the second game.
  • Tornados Split Doubleheader vs. Methodist as McCoy Earns Complete Game W in BC Debut

    The Brevard College Softball team (3-4) split a doubleheader with Methodist (4-8) on Saturday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Field.  The Tornados rebounded with an impressive 5-1 win after dropping game one of the twin bill, 5-2.
  • BC Splits Doubleheader Behind Complete Game by Hartman

    The Brevard College Softball team (2-3) split a doubleheader on a rain-soaked Friday afternoon over NC Wesleyan (2-1) at Ives-Lemel Field. The Tornados dropped the opening game 4-0, before rebounding with a 3-2 victory behind a complete game performance by freshman Ali Grace Hartman.

  • Cavaliers Sweep Tornados in Home-Opener

    The Brevard College Tornados Softball team (1-2) fell in a Sunday afternoon doubleheader to the visiting Montreat Cavaliers (8-8) at Ives-Lemel Field.  Montreat used opportune offense, taking advantage of defensive miscues to claim an 11-3 victory in five innings in game one, while the Cavs only allowed one BC hit in a 3-0 victory in game two.

    The Brevard College Tornados Softball team has announced its 2019 schedule, which includes nine home doubleheaders at Ives-Lemel Field.
