Tornados Road Swing Continues Versus Pfeiffer, Huntingdon

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard softball team continues its longest road stretch of the season this week when it travels to Pfeiffer (March 22) and Huntingdon (March 24) for a pair of doubleheaders.

The Tornados (5-5) are looking to rebound from a pair of setbacks at Covenant on Saturday, March 17, when they clash with Pfeiffer at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Teegan Bullock leads all Brevard hitters with a .464 batting average (min. 10 at-bats), recording a team-high 13 hits along the way. Emily White leads the unit with most extra-base hits (four), all coming in the form of doubles.

The Tornados own a .296 team batting average and have three players hitting .300 or better on the season with at least 10 at-bats, including Bullock, Ricki Kuhn (.333), Brittan Miller (.333).

Kuhn is also making her mark on the mound for Brevard, posting a 3-3 mark in eight appearances. She has logged 29.2 innings, allowed 35 hits, 26 runs, nine earned runs, surrendered eight walks and recorded 13 strikeouts.

Pfeiffer enters the game with a 20-2 mark and a nine-game winning streak that began with a 10-4 victory over Roanoke on March 5. The Falcons have topped the double figure mark in five games during the winning streak, including a 16-0 blanking of Johnson C. Smith on March 7.

Vada Blue Sherrill tops the Pfeiffer lineup in batting average (.545), hits (42), at-bats (77) and home runs (12). Three Falcon hitters, including Kiana Millsaps (nine), Makenzie Pennell, (eight) and Stephanie Fortner (eight) lead the way in doubles.

Millsaps is also a dominating presence on the mound with a 13-2 record and a 2.38 ERA. She has pitched 70.2 innings, allowed 61 hits, 20 walks and converted 29 strikeouts.

Huntingdon (11-13) will square off against Auburn-Montgomery on March 22 before its meeting with the Tornados at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. The Hawks had won four straight before dropping a doubleheader against Millsaps on March 20.

Alyssa Singletary tops all Huntingdon hitters with a .438 batting average, collecting 32 hits and a team-high 13 RBI on the season. Singletary also has two doubles, three triples and a home run to her credit this season and is tied with Madison Perryman for most extra-base hits with six.
