Softball Slate Opens at Fast Pitch Dreams Tourney

BREVARD, N.C. –
The Brevard softball team begins its 2018 campaign on Wednesday when faces off against Mt. Aloysius and Medaille in doubleheader at the Fast Pitch Dreams Tournament being held in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The first game of the three day, six-game tournament for the Tornados takes place at 11:30 a.m. against Mt. Aloysius. The Mounties are 2-3 on the young season and have wins over Sage College and Mary Baldwin.

That will be followed by a 1:30 p.m. clash with Medaille, who has won three of its first four contests including victories over Penn State-Harrisburg, King's College and most recently Wentworth Institute of Technology.

The tournament continues on Thursday, March 8, when the Tornados clash with Sage (11:30 a.m.) and Hilbert (1:30 p.m.). Brevard completes the event on Friday, March 9, when it faces off against Mary Washington (11:30 a.m.) and Penn State-Abington (1:30 p.m.).

Brevard looks to improve on a 2017 campaign in which in finished 2-9 with wins over Bluefield and Southern Wesleyan. The Tornados roster features 13 freshmen, three seniors, two sophomores and one junior.

Brevard will look to replace its top RBI contributor, Rhyanna Hadden, who finished with nine a season ago. The Tornados top hitter in 2017, Montana Daniels, is also absent from the lineup after finishing 8-for-19 (.421 batting average / .684 slugging percentage) in seven contests.
