Brevard set to compete in first rock climbing event of the season

BREVARD, N.C.- The Brevard Rock Climbing team will travel to Boone on Saturday for the Southern Comfort bouldering competition for the first event of the 2017-18 season. 

Over 90 climbers from the Eastern Edge Series teams will participate in the event, from schools such as the host Appalachian State, Duke, ECU, UNC, and the competition is also open to the public for unattached climbers in the surrounding areas.

The Brevard College Climbing team is made up of multiple levels of competition for the event, with recreational, intermediate, and advanced climbing ranks. In the advanced ranking Lauren Fowler, Matthew Stephens, and Jordan Haak will be leading the BC Crushers in Boone. 

The event will take place at Center 45 climbing gym in Boone and will begin at 2 p.m., and will go for two hours, and the finals will begin promptly after.
