BREVARD, N.C - The Brevard College men's tennis team (2-6) was narrowly defeated by Pfeiffer (5-4) by a team score of 5-4 on Sunday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex.

The match marked the season-finale for the Tornado men's squad, a team made up entirely of underclassmen.

The Tornados automatically took a 1-0 lead in the match as the number three doubles team of sophomore Miles Schafer and freshman Hunter Williams won their match unopposed.  Pfeiffer then took a 2-1 lead after doubles play, winning both number one and number two doubles.

Williams, a first-year player out of Columbia, South Carolina, impressed during singles play at the number four slot.  Williams took the first set 6-4, before clinching his match over Caleb Phillips of Pfeiffer with a 6-2 win in set two.

BC's other singles wins came at the number five and number six positions, as sophomore JaMarcus Walker and junior Alex Glaze both won unopposed.

The Falcons were able to clinch the match, however, with victories in number one, two, and three singles.

The match concluded a Spring 2021 season that saw Brevard win matches at home vs. Berea and on the road at Maryville.  BC sophomore Ethan McGee finished the season with a 4-3 overall record at number one singles en route to earning USA South Conference All-West Division Honorable Mention and All-Sportsmanship Team honors.  The Salisbury, North Carolina native also won the season's first USA South Conference Player of the Week award following a 6-0, 6-0 win over Berea in the season-opener.

As a team, the Tornados finished 2-3 in USA Conference play to tie for fourth place in the league's West Division standings.
