Tim Hengst of Brevard College Named Google Cloud Academic All-District

BREVARD, N.C. – Tim Hengst of Brevard College Men's Tennis has been named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team, selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).  The honor recognized the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletics and in the classroom.

As an Academic All-District honoree, Hengst now advances to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot.  The Academic All-America honorees will be announced on June 19.

Hengst was one of the just two men's tennis players represented on the NCAA Division III District 5 team which was comprised of superior student-athletes from the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.  In addition to tennis, the other sports represented on the At-Large team included Golf, Lacrosse, Swimming and Wrestling.

Hengst, a four-year performer on the BC Men's Tennis team from Menden, Germany, graduated earlier this month Summa Cum Laude with a 3.93 GPA in the challenging double major of Business/Organizational Leadership and Mathematics.  A multiple ITA Scholar-Athlete award winner, Hengst earned the Business and Organizational Leadership Program's Highest Academic Achievement Senior Award from Brevard College this year.

Hengst was named USA South First-Team All-Conference this season after accruing a 15-3 overall record in singles play and a perfect 12-0 record in conference singles competition.  He went 3-1 in no. 1 singles and 12-2 in no. 2 singles on the season to go along with a 7-1 record in number one doubles with his fellow senior teammate Tom Mittring.

Named USA South Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending April 15, Hengst ended his collegiate career with a dominant 14-match singles win streak.

Hengst becomes the second Brevard College student-athlete to be named to a Google Cloud Academic All-District team in the 2018-19 academic year joining recent graduate Ashley Hughes who was named to the 2018 Women's Soccer Academic All-District team.
