  • Brevard College Athletics Announces Inaugural BC Athletics Tornado Club Auction

    The Brevard College Department of Athletics is pleased to announce its inaugural BC Athletics Tornado Club Auction. The online silent auction was made available on Monday, August 1 at 8 a.m. and runs until Wednesday, August 21 at 8 a.m., the date of the 11th annual BC Tornados Open held at the Lake Toxaway Country Club.

  • 91 Brevard College Student-Athletes Named USA South Academic All-Conference

    The USA South Conference on Friday morning released its annual USA South Academic All-Conference list, selecting 91 Brevard College student-athletes as Academic All-Conference selections. Additionally, 18 student-athletes collected “With Distinction” Academic All-Conference honors, accruing at least a 3.9 grade point average in both the Fall and Spring semesters.

  • Four Tornados Awarded USA South Men’s Tennis Honors Following Impressive Season

    The USA South Conference on Thursday announced its All-Conference and All-Sportsmanship awards, choosing seniors Tom Mittring, Tim Hengst, and Nathan Boepple along with freshman Tyler Frazee for postseason honors. Mittring and Hengst both made the USA South Men’s Tennis All-Conference First Team along with being selected as First Team West Division selections. Frazee was named to the First Team West Division as well, with Boepple being placed on the All-Sportsmanship team.
  • Mittring, Hengst, Frazee Cap off Perfect USA South Seasons in Singles Play

    Brevard College’s Tom Mittring, Tim Hengst and Tyler Frazee completed perfect records in 2019 USA South Conference singles competition as the Brevard College Men’s Tennis team (6-12, 4-8 USAS) concluded its regular season with a 5-4 defeat to USA South Conference leaders Piedmont (14-5, 11-0 USAS) Tuesday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex.  Mittring, Hengst, and Frazee combined for a perfect 33-0 record in USA South singles play this season Mittring capped off his remarkable career at Brevard College with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in number one singles over Piedmont’s Kanler Cumbass.  With the win, the senior from Bavaria, Germany finished his career with 24-straight wins in singles play dating back to February of 2018.   The 24-straight no.1 singles wins represents an NCAA-era program record. 
  • Tim Hengst and Tyler Frazee Sweep USA South Men’s Tennis Weekly Awards

    Senior Tim Hengst and freshman Tyler Frazee earned the USA South Men’s Tennis weekly awards after two strong individual weeks on the road. Hengst, a native of Menden, Germany, earned a 2-0 record at both the top singles and doubles spots last week for the Tornados. Hengst collected singles victories over opponents from USA South foes LaGrange and Huntingdon. In doubles, Hengst teamed with Frazee to earn the pair of wins. Frazee, a native of Tampa, Florida, earned his fourth weekly honor of the season, a new high for a Brevard College athlete. Frazee earned a 2-0 record at both the number-two singles spot and top doubles position last week for the Tornados. The victories in singles came over opponents from USA South foes LaGrange and Huntingdon. In doubles, Frazee teamed with Tim Hengst to earn the two wins.
  • Hawks Upend Tornados Men’s Tennis, 6-3

    Senior Tim Hengst and freshman Tyler Frazee once again enjoyed an undefeated day individually for the Brevard College Tornados Men’s Tennis team (6-11, 4-7 USAS) in a 6-3 team defeat to the Huntingdon Hawks (8-10, 4-7 USAS) on Saturday afternoon in Montgomery, Alabama.  Opening up doubles action, Hengst and Frazee teamed up for an 8-4 triumph in the no. 1 spot for the Tornados. Huntingdon took a 4-8 decision in no. 2 doubles in addition to a win in no. 3 doubles by default to hold a 2-1 advantage after doubles play. 
  • Hengst, Frazee Continue Streaks on Friday in LaGrange

    Moving up a spot in rotation, Senior Tim Hengst and Freshman Tyler Frazee continued their respective singles win streaks on the road on Friday afternoon, as the LaGrange Panthers took a 6-3 final against the Brevard College Tornados Men’s Tennis team (6-10, 4-6 USAS) in USA South action.  Hengst, playing number-one singles on Friday, defeated LaGrange’s Will Thompson in a tight, 6-4, 6-4 decision. The Tornado senior from Menden, Germany has now won 12 singles matches in a row. 
  • Mittring and Hengst Win Singles and Doubles Matches on Senior Day

    Seniors Tom Mittring and Tim Hengst extended their respective singles and doubles win streaks as the Brevard College Tornado senior class was honored as part of the Senior Day festivities at the McCoy Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon. BC Men’s Tennis (6-9, 4-5 USAS) narrowly fell, 5-4, in a close USA South Conference match against the visiting Scots of Covenant College (7-7, 7-2 USAS). Brevard won numbers one-through-three singles alongside Mittring and Hengst’s no. 1 doubles victory.
  • Win Streak Reaches Four Matches for Men’s Tennis with Win at Maryville

    The Brevard College Tornados Men’s Tennis team (6-8, 4-4 USAS) earned its fourth-straight match victory on Wednesday afternoon after defeating the Maryville College Scots (0-13, 0-9 USAS) by a final score of 7-2 in a USA South Conference road match in Maryville, Tennessee. All four of BC’s consecutive match victories have come against USA South competition.
  • BC Men’s Tennis Takes Both USA South Weekly Awards for Second-Straight Week

    For the third time this season and the second time in a row, senior Tom Mittring and freshman Tyler Frazee have collected USA South weekly honors. Mittring claimed the USA South Men’s Tennis Player of the Week award, while Frazee snatched the USA South Men’s Tennis Rookie of the Week honor for the third-straight week. Both players helped the Tornados to an undefeated 3-0 week as a team, with all victories coming at the McCoy Tennis Complex
  • Streaks Continue for Individuals, Team in 7-2 Victory over Berea

    The Brevard College Tornados Men’s Tennis team (5-8, 3-4 USAS) won its third match in a row by defeating the Berea College Mountaineers (2-9, 2-7 USAS) by a final of 7-2 at the McCoy Tennis Complex on Sunday afternoon. 
  • Tornados Take Impressive 5-4 Match vs Huntingdon

    The Brevard College Tornados Men’s Tennis team (4-8, 2-4 USAS) earned its second conference victory of 2018-19 by defeating the visiting Huntingdon Hawks (5-7, 3-4 USA), 5-4, on Saturday at the McCoy Tennis Complex.  The Tornados claimed the victory despite having to forfeit no. 3 doubles, no. 5 singles, and no. 6 singles. 
  • Doubles Sweep Propels Men’s Tennis to Victory over Johnson University

    The Brevard College Tornados Men’s Tennis team (3-8) used a strong doubles start to push itself to its third team victory of the 2018-19 season as it defeated Johnson University (3-7) by a final score of 7-2 at the McCoy Tennis Complex on Tuesday afternoon.  BC swept doubles action in controlling fashion before taking four out of six singles matches to earn the victory. 
  • Mittring, Frazee Sweep USA South Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week Honors

    Brevard College Men’s Tennis student-athletes Tom Mittring and Tyler Frazee swept through the USA South Conference’s weekly Athlete of the Week honors after impressive individual performances for the Tornados. Mittring was named USA South Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season after an undefeated week, winning all six of his matches in both singles and doubles action.  
  • Brevard Men’s Tennis Narrowly Falls to NCAA DII Johnson C. Smith

    The Brevard College Tornados Men’s Tennis team (2-8) fell just short at NCAA DII Johnson C. Smith (1-8), 4-3,  on Sunday afternoon.  Both sides split singles action, as the Tornados won no. 1-3, while the Golden Bulls took no. 4-6. JCS took the doubles point after winning two of the three doubles matches.  Tom Mittring’s ongoing singles win streak reached 18 matches on Sunday as the senior from Bavaria, Germany collected a 6-1, 7-5 win in no. 1 singles action. 
  • Mittting’s Win Streak Reaches 17 Matches in Close Team Loss to LaGrange

    Senior Tom Mittring extended his singles win streak to 17 matches as the Brevard College Tornados Men’s Tennis team (2-7, 1-4 USAS) narrowly fell to the LaGrange Panthers (5-2, 4-1 USAS) by a final of 5-4 on Saturday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex.  Mittring, Tim Hengst, and Tyler Frazee each picked up singles victories, while the duo of Mittring and Hengst earned a come-from-behind doubles win. 
  • Men’s Tennis Sweeps Maryville, 9-0, for First Conference Victory

    The Brevard College Tornados Men’s Tennis team (2-6, 1-3 USAS) used a complete team effort to pick up its first USA South Conference victory of the season, defeating the visiting Maryville Scots (0-8, 0-5), 9-0, at the McCoy Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon.  Tom Mittring extended his singles win streak to 16 matches by defeating Maryville’s Austin Smith, 6-1, 6-0.
  • Tyler Frazee Named USA South Men’s Tennis Rookie of the Week

    Brevard College Men’s Tennis freshman Tyler Frazee has been selected as the USA South Men’s Tennis Rookie of the Week after an impressive week for the Tornados.   The freshman from Tampa, Florida earned a 2-0 singles record and a 1-1 doubles mark last week for BC Men’s Tennis. The victories in singles came at the number-three and number-two spots over opponents from Spartanburg Methodist and USA South foe Berea, respectively. In doubles, he teamed with Andrew Ingram to grab an 8-2 win at Berea. The distinction for Frazee marks the 15th USA South weekly honor garnered by a Brevard College student-athlete this academic year.
  • Tornados Fall Just Short in Tight Contest at Berea

    The Brevard Men's Tennis team fell just short in a 5-4 defeat to USA South Conference rival Berea on Saturday afternoon at the Wilson Evans Tennis Complex in Berea, Kentucky.
  • Boepple, Glaze, and Ingram’s First-Career Singles Wins Highlight Brevard’s First Victory of the Season

    Junior student-athlete Nathan Boepple and freshman student-athletes Andrew Ingram and Alex Glaze picked up their first-career collegiate singles victories as the Brevard College Tornados Men’s Tennis team (1-5) claimed its first win of the 2018-19 season by defeating Spartanburg Methodist College by a final score of 7-2 at the McCoy Tennis Complex on Thursday afternoon.  The Tornados as a team claimed a No. 1 doubles victory before taking all six singles matches for seven points total on the afternoon.

    Despite adverse weather conditions, the Brevard College Tornados Men’s Tennis team (0-5, 0-2 USAS) was able to play its road USA South Conference matchup against Covenant College (3-4, 3-1 USAS) at an indoor facility at the McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tenn. The Tornados fell 6-3 to their counterparts from Lookout Mountain, Ga.
