Piedmont Completes Season Sweep of Brevard

DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont men's tennis team wrapped up the season sweep of Brevard with a 9-0 victory on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lions grabbed the first three points of doubles competition as Nathan Metzger and Jackson Hill posted an 8-5 victory against Tim Hengst and Will Christiansen. Alex Tomlin and Sam Niebanck defeated the tandem of Jaume Reig and David Bumgarner by an 8-2 margin, while Austin Miller and Bryan Barnett completed an 8-0 victory against Nathan Boepple and Florian Peyssonneaux.

Barnett came through with a 6-2, 6-0 win against Reig, while Metzger picked up his second win of the day when he earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory in the clash of No. 1 singles with Hengst.

Miller overcame a first set loss to Boepple to earn a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win in the clash of sixth seeds. Harrison LaBollita stretched the lead to 7-0 with a straight set win over David Bumgarner 6-0, 6-0.

The final two wins by the Lions came from Kanler Cumbass, who downed Will Christiansen 6-3, 6-3, as well as Andrew Chitty who posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Peyssonneaux.

Brevard concludes the season on Saturday, April 7 when the Tornados host Berea for Senior Day. The day will also include a free tennis clinic following the match.
