Tennis Squads Set for Two Matches this Weekend

BREVARD, N.C.- Both men's and women's tennis teams will host LaGrange on Friday at 1 p.m., then will take on Huntingdon at the Brevard tennis courts on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m.

In their last outing, Brevard's men's team (4-11) won their third match in the last four outings by knocking off Maryville 9-0 on Wednesday afternoon. The Tornados completed the season sweep of the Scots on an afternoon where Tom Mittring, Tim Hengst, Jaume Reig and David Bumgarner took 2-of-3 sets from their opponents, while Will Christiansen won 6-0, 6-0 in their singles matches.

LaGrange (12-4) heads into Brevard on a four-match winning streak, winning each match by an average of 8-1 over their opponents in that span. In the last meeting between the two teams on March 4, the Panthers came out on top 7-2, with the only two wins for the Tornados coming from a singles victory from Mittring and a Mittring/Hengst doubles win.

Huntingdon (6-6) will take on Brevard on Saturday morning following their match with Covenant on Friday afternoon. The Hawks took the first match over the Tornados 5-4 on March 3, with the deciding match coming on a singles win from Adam Self over Christiansen in the No. 3 spot.

With one team win this weekend, the men's team will have won the most team matches in a season since the 2011-12 season (eight).
