Men's Tennis Stays Hot Versus Maryville

BREVARD-MARYVILLE RESULTS

MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Brevard men's tennis team posted its third win in its last four matches on Wednesday afternoon when it emerged with a 9-0 win at Maryville.

Brevard bolted out to an early 3-0 advantage in doubles competition as the team of Florian Peyssonneaux and Jaume Reig won by default for the first point. Will Christiansen and David Bumgarner completed an 8-2 win over Trevor Perry and Cole Stinson for the second doubles win.

Tom Mittring and Tim Hengst completed the doubles sweep with a 9-7 triumph over Daniel Silva and Marcos Escudero.

Peyssonneaux stretched the team lead to 4-0 with a default victory and Christiansen posted the decisive team point with a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Mateus Coling. Mittring laid claim to his second win of the match as he downed Silva 6-4, 2-6, 10-5 for the sixth Tornado point.

Hengst earned a 6-4, 7-6 (11-9) victory, after saving two set points in the second set, to win in the battle of No. 2 seeds with Marcos Escudero. Reig quickly followed with a 6-4, 1-6, 10-7 triumph against Trevor Perry to make for an 8-0 Brevard advantage.

Bumgarner battled through adversity early in the clash of fifth seeds, falling behind 6-0 and 4-1 to Stinson, before winning the next six straight points to claim the second set 6-4. He completed the Brevard sweep with a 10-7 win in the third set.
