Men’s Tennis Hosts Johnson C. Smith Wednesday

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard men's tennis team returns to the court on Wednesday, March 21, when it hosts Johnson C. Smith at 2:30 p.m.

The Tornados are in search of back-to-back wins for the first time since the 2015 campaign when they enjoyed a three-match winning streak that included triumphs over Assumption (March 2), Misericordia (March 4) as well as Davis & Elkins (March 6).

In its last outing against Maryville on March 13, Brevard's top three players played a key role in the doubles and singles matches, as the Tornados took home the 6-3 team win over the Scots.

Tom Mittring, Tim Hengst, Will Christiansen and David Bumgarner all picked up singles wins, while the combination of Mittring/Hengst and Christiansen/Bumgarner helped guide the Tornados to the team victory. Christiansen earned the first win on the day, picking up the 6-0, 6-0 victory over Mateus Coling.

The deciding match came in a tight three-game match between the two number ones' Mittring and Daniel Silva, as Mittring was able to win the final two sets in the 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 triumph for the junior.

The duo of Mittring and Hengst won 8-3 over Silva and Marcus Escuderro, while the tandem of Christiansen and Bumgarner posted an 8-3 victory over Trevor Perry and Coling.
