Tornados Face Huntingdon, LaGrange in Men's Action

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard men's tennis team looks to get back on track this weekend when it heads to Huntingdon on Saturday and LaGrange on Sunday.

The Tornados have split the week, earning a 9-0 victory on Sunday at Berea before falling by the same score to Piedmont on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lions jumped out to a 3-0 lead by sweeping doubles action. Harrison LaBollita grabbed his second win of the day in singles action with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Florian Peyssonneaux.
Sam Niebanck followed with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph against David Bumgarner and Alex Tomlin added a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Jaume Reig.

With the team victory secured, Nathan Metzger added a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Tom Mittring in the battle of first seeds. Tim Hengst grabbed an opening set win, but Jackson Hill emerged with a three-set win by scores of 1-6, 6-2, 10-5. Kanler Cumbass completed the Lions' sweep by a 7-5, 6-3 triumph over Will Christiansen.

The Hawks, who Brevard meets at 12 p.m. EST, completed their first month of play on Wednesday, falling to LaGrange 8-1. Huntington is winless in three matches against Piedmont, Covenant and the Panthers.

John Jones earned the lone victory against LaGrange as he downed Mitchell Corley 6-4, 6-0 in a clash of No. 1 seeds. His teammate Adam Self has the only other win on the season, also in singles play, which came as part of a 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 win over Covenant's Logan Hull.

LaGrange, whose weekend includes a clash with Covenant on Saturday, has won two matches this spring against Transylvania (Feb. 24) and Huntingdon (Feb. 28). The Panthers are 4-2 overall on the campaign, snagging wins against Emory-Oxford and Gadsden State in the fall slate.
