Men's tennis set to start season with doubleheader in Hickory

BREVARD, N.C.- The Brevard men's tennis team will began their 2017-18 season with a doubleheader on September 23 in Hickory against Johnson C. Smith and Lenoir-Rhyne.

Brevard and Johnson C. Smith will be playing their first official matches of the campaign on Saturday, while Lenoir-Rhyne enters the match 1-1 on the year.

The Tornados are looking to improve on their 4-17 campaign in 2016-17 in the third year under head coach Evan Schreiner.

This year's schedule for Brevard features ten home matches, one of which the Tornados will take on Johnson C. Smith on March 21, 2018. The bulk of the schedule begins in the spring semester, as Brevard will host Southern Wesleyan on February 3, 2018.

Despite no longer being in NCAA Division II, the Tornados will face off against familiar foe Lenoir-Rhyne, a team Brevard is 3-6 against since 2009. This will be the first meeting between the Tornados and Johnson C. Smith, since Brevard moved into the NCAA ranks.

The start time for the match against Johnson C. Smith on September 23 has not been set yet, but will take on Lenoir Rhyne at approximately 4 p.m.
