Smith ... won four matches in which he won 6-0,6-0 in straight sets ... earned his first singles win of the season against David Garcia of Montreat, taking the match 3-6,6-0,10-6 (Oct. 7, 2017) ... picked up his first 6-0,6-0 win against Mateus Coling of Maryville on March 28 ... paired with David Bumgarner to win five doubles matches, and Tim Hengst to win one doubles match ... won his first doubles match with Bumgarner 8-1 against Berea (Feb. 25) ... won two consecutive doubles matches with Bumgarner, with the wins coming against Maryville (March 13) and Johnson C. Smith (March 21).

2017 (FRESHMAN): Ended his first season of collegiate competition with four singles victories and four doubles wins … earned his first singles win against Joseph Horne from Belmont Abbey (Sept. 23) by scores of 6-4, 6-1 … added his second singles win against Thomas Deeley of Lees-McRae (Feb. 21) by scores of 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 … posted his final singles wins over Kevin Musasia (Salem International) 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) and Jacob Byrd (Spring Arbor) 6-3, 6-0 … seeded as No. 3 (three times), No. 4 (six), No. 5 (six) and No. 6 (four) in singles competition over the course of the season … posted his first doubles win alongside Chris Plasa as the pair downed Zachary Blythe and Nikhil Reddy (Belmont Abbey) on Sept. 23 by a score of 8-6 … earned an 8-6 victory, alongside teammate Cre Still, as the pair downed Catawba’s Ryen Reid and Cason Hiers on Feb. 19 … completed an 8-0 win over Kevin Musasia and Eugene Bour (Salem International) with teammate Tim Hengst on March 5 … posted an 8-3 win with Hengst as the pair defeated Jonah Engle and Jacob Byrd from Spring Arbor (March 6) … primarily competed as the No. 2 doubles pair (16 times), but also played at the No. 3 position (four) … was teamed with Tim Hengst (nine), Cre Still (seven), Chris Plasa (six) and Tom Mittring (once) over the course of the season.
