LAGRANGE, Ga. - The Brevard College men's soccer team (1-4-2, 1-1-2 USAS) earned its first victory of 2019 with a 2-1 conference overtime win over host LaGrange (3-5-1, 2-2-1 USAS) on Saturday night in LaGrange, Georgia.

One minute and 56 seconds into the first overtime period, freshman Lucas Campos delivered a golden goal off a throw-in by Jackson Riddle. After a slight deflection in front of the goal's mouth following Riddle's long throw-in, Campos fired off a shot that found the back of the net for the game-winner and his second goal of the season.

The golden goal completed a two-goal comeback that began with a score by Matheus Masukawa. Trailing 1-0, the Tornados were afforded a set-piece opportunity with a direct kick outside the penalty box in the 64th minute. Masukawa brilliantly curled the ball over a wall of defenders to place the shot into the top left corner for the junior's second goal of the year.

The equalizer by Masukawa tied the score, 1-1 and the two teams remained deadlocked through the final 26 minutes of regulation.

The Tornados dominated possession for the majority of the 92-minute affair.  BC outshot the Panthers 25-8 on the evening, including an 11-4 advantage in shots-on-goal.

While the Tornados were active offensively with the high shot total, the BC defense was stifling to the Panther attack, especially in the second half.  LaGrange recorded only one shot-on-goal in the second stanza.

The only goal scored by the Panthers came on a penalty kick. Blake Webb scored on a PK in the 34th minute to give LaGrange the lead despite the lack of opportunities for the Panthers.

Eight Tornados registered double-digit shot totals led by Joao Monteiro and JP Suarti each with four shots. Vinicius Giannaccini recorded three shots, while Masukawa, Alex Tenjhay, Pedro Herrera, Xavier Mariduena, and Adam Spencer each fired off two shots.

Goalkeeper Patrick Hall earned his first victory of the season, manning the net for all 90 minutes for the Tornados.  Hall recorded three saves on the evening with the only goal allowed coming on the LaGrange penalty kick.

The Tornados will look to continue their winning ways when they return home for a USA South Conference match 7 p.m. this Wednesday vs. Maryville at Ives-Lemel Family Field. It will mark the first home match after playing seven straight games on the road to start the regular season. BC's original regular-season home opener vs. Covenant on September 14 was postponed due to lightning and rescheduled for October 22.
