BC's Masukawa put in the matches first goal in the 13th minute to give the Tornados an early 1-0 lead.

Less than two minutes later, Sewanee's Alpo Sipila scored the equalizer for the Tigers, placing the ball in unassisted to tie the contest, 1-1, in the 15th minute.

Towards the end of the first half, the Tigers were able to take the lead thanks to Tashinga Vhumisai driving home a Marco Randazzo pass in to give Sewanee the 2-1 halftime lead.

The second half was a defensive showdown, as the Tornados were held to just two total shots. Sewanee closed out its season-opening victory after James Murray saved a Monteiro shot in the 87th minute.
