Brevard Shuts Out Guilford to Pick Up First Win of 2018

Greensboro, N.C. – The Brevard College Men's Soccer team (1-4-0) earned their first win of the 2018 season as they defeated Guilford College (4-2-0) in a non-conference matchup.

The Tornados shut out the Quakers thanks to a stout defensive performance and eight saves by Patrick Hall (1-4-0). Hall earned the fifth win of his career, as he improves his career record to 5-6-0.

Matheus Masukawa scored his first goal of the season in the ninth minute as he beat the Quakers' goalkeeper Zach Van Kampen one-on-one on the right side of the box. This goal was the second of Masukawa's career, as he tallied the first last season.

Brevard's defense showed out en route to their victory. Despite the Quakers applying plenty of pressure with 16 shots in the match, Patrick and the defensive starters earned a well-deserved shutout.
