Brevard survives late push, downs Pfeiffer

BREVARD, N.C.- Brevard men's soccer was able to hang on late for the 2-1 victory over Pfeiffer Wednesday night at Ives-Lemel Field.

The Tornados (7-7) were able to withstand a flurry of shots from the Falcons (8-7-1) late in the match, as Pfeiffer pressed the attack in the second half with nine shots. Brevard's defense was able to stand tall in the final stages, and was able to hang on to the victory.

Jesse Omezi and Austin Wolfe were the two goal scorers for Brevard, as Wolfe led the Tornados in total shots (five).

Both goalkeepers had impressive outings, as Tomas Correa notched four saves on six shots on goal, while Patrick Hall tallied five saves on six shots on goal.

The scoring began in the 34th minute, as Omezi drilled a shot coming off an assist from Chris Efenecy. The goal was Omezi's fifth of the season, and Efenecy's first assist of 2017.

In the 54th minute, Austin Wolfe scored off a deflected ball outside of the box to increase the Tornado advantage to two.

Pfeiffer would answer in the 76th minute, as Darwin Ramirez scored from inside the box to cut the deficit in half.

In the final seconds of the match, Felix Erana attempted what would have been the tying goal, but the shot went just wide of the net and secured the victory for Brevard.

With the win, Brevard has now won five out of their past six matches, and are now riding their longest winning streak of the season at three matches.

The Tornados return to action for the final time this season, as they host Shaw on October 28th at 2:30 p.m.
