BREVARD, N.C.- Coming off a much-needed win against William Peace, the Brevard men's soccer team will look to build on that victory in back-to-back road matches this weekend. The Tornados will take on LaGrange following the Brevard women's soccer match against the Panthers on Friday, and will travel to Lookout Mountain, Ga. to take on Covenant at 4:30 p.m.
In their previous match against William Peace, Brevard's offense caught fire in the first half as the team scored three goals in the first 28 minutes, and proved to be the difference in the 4-2 victory. The win also marked their first road win of the 2017 season.
Brevard will look to continue that offensive success, as the Tornados have averaged 4.66 goals per match in each of their three wins. On the defensive end, Brevard will look to keep up the pressure as they have allowed 14.6 shots per match and 1.8 goals per match in the last five matches.
Looking at LaGrange, the Panthers come into the match 3-6-2 with their most recent match being a victory over Averett on October 8th. Sophomore Erric Sturm leads the team with 21 points, and is tied for third in the USA South Conference with 10 goals scored on the season.
In Brevard's next match against Covenant, the Scots head into the match 5-8-1 and are fresh off a victory over Berry on October 10th. Covenant is led by a stout defense, as they have allowed only 1.64 goals per match, and goalkeeper Jonathan Crossman is second in the USA South Conference with 69 saves on the season.
This will be Brevard's first matchup against either team since the program moved to the NCAA ranks in 2008.
