Brevard looks for second straight victory against Maryville

BREVARD, N.C.- Brevard men's soccer will host Maryville tonight as they will look for their second straight win.

The Tornados are coming off a resounding 6-0 victory over Berea, a match where Brevard shot a season-high 34 shots while only allowing four total shots to the Mountaineers. Brevard used a quick-strike attack to score their goals, and the offense was well-balanced, as five different players scored goals for the Tornados.

Brevard's six goals on were the most goals scored in one game since the school moved to the NCAA ranks in the 2008 season.

With his two goals last Saturday senior Jesse Omezi became the second player for Brevard this season with a multi-goal game, the other came from Jorge Jimenez against Huntingdon (Sept. 9), when he scored three goals.

Maryville comes into the match at 9-1 on the 2017 season, and currently owns the best overall record in the USA South Conference.  The Scots come into the match today winners of three in a row, and outscoring their competition 12-1 in those three matches.

Defensively, Brevard will look to keep up the same pressure they used against Berea, as Maryville has 10 different players that have scored this season. The high-point man for the Scots is sophomore Johnny Rakhmonberdiev with 16 points on the year (seven goals, two assists).

This will be the first meeting between the two schools since Brevard became an NCAA program in 2008.
