BREVARD, N.C. – Sophomore defender Jacob Gravely earned USA South Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week honors following a standout week defensively for the second-year Tornado from Monroe, North Carolina.
Gravely joins teammate Devin McCarragher as the two Tornado men's lacrosse student-athletes who have received conference weekly accolades this season.
Gravely totaled eight caused turnovers, ten ground balls, and one assist in a 1-1 week for the Tornados against USA South competition. In a 24-7 loss to Pfeiffer, posted co-game highs of three caused turnovers and five ground balls to go along with one assist. In a 9-6 win over Averett, Gravely caused a game-high five turnovers while also grabbing five ground balls.
This season, Gravely has totaled 39 ground balls, 22 caused turnovers, and an assist in 12 games played. He is fourth on the team in total ground balls, and ranks second on the team in caused turnovers.
The accolade gives Brevard 27 USA South Conference weekly awards won by a Brevard College student-athlete in the 2021-22 season.
Gravely and the rest of the BC men's lacrosse team will travel to Buena Vista, Virginia this Saturday to face Southern Virginia University at 1 p.m.
