2019 MEN'S LACROSSE SCHEDULE

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College Tornados Men's Lacrosse team has announced its 2019 schedule, which features five regular-season home contests at Ives-Lemel Field.

Head Coach Jim Fritz kicks off his first season at the helm of the BC Tornados Men's Lacrosse program by facing two opponents in exhibition matches. The Tornados will head to Mars Hill University for an exhibition on Saturday, January 26 before hosting Belmont Abbey College at Ives-Lemel Field on Wednesday, January 30 at 4 p.m.

"I am excited with the schedule to build on what the team accomplished last year," stated Coach Fritz on the Tornados' 2019 schedule. "Our goal is to win the conference and make the ECAC Championships.  I think this schedule puts us in a good position to accomplish our goals"

Brevard kicks off its 2019 regular season on Wednesday, February 5 at 5 p.m. as the Tornados travel to Montreat College. This match marks the second-straight season that Brevard has opened its season against Montreat, as the Tornados upended the Cavaliers 15-6 last season at Ives-Lemel Field.

The Tornados open their home slate on Saturday, February 9 as Birmingham-Southern College visits the mountains of Western North Carolina. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m. at Ives-Lemel Field. Brevard suffered a 19-7 setback last season at Birmingham-Southern.

Brevard will then embark on a three-game road trip to close out the month of February. The Tornados travel to Franklin Springs, Ga. for a mid-week match with Emmanuel College on Wednesday, February 13 at 4 p.m. Brevard then heads to Lynchburg, Va. on Saturday, February 16 to square off with Randolph College at 5 p.m. The Tornados conclude their three-game road swing in Frederick, Maryland to face Hood College on Saturday, February 23 at 1 p.m.

Coach Fritz and the 2019 Tornados open up USA South Conference play by hosting Pfeiffer on Saturday, March 2 at 5 p.m. 2019 marks the first season that the BC Tornados are eligible to compete for a regular season championship and earn regular season individual awards in their new conference. Brevard concluded its 2017 season against Pfeiffer, suffering a 23-13 defeat.

The Tornados then host Ohio Northern in non-conference action on Saturday, March 9 in an 11 a.m. matinee.

Brevard will then resume conference play on the road against in-state rival Methodist University on Saturday, March 16 at 2 p.m. A Tornado victory over the Monarchs last season kickstarted a six-game win streak for Brevard.

BC faces a pair of in-state USA South opponents to close out March. The Tornados travel to Raleigh, N.C. to face William Peace University on Saturday, March 23 at 1 p.m. before hosting Greensboro College at Ives-Lemel Field on Saturday, March 30 at 5 p.m.

The Tornados play two of their final three contests on the road. Brevard heads to Demorest, Ga. to face the Piedmont College Lions on Friday, April 5 at 5 p.m. before traveling to Danville, Va. to face the Averett University Cougars on Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m.

Brevard closes out the 2019 regular season against conference foe Huntingdon College on Saturday, April 20 at 2 p.m. The Tornados and Hawks played into overtime last season, with Huntingdon claiming a 13-12 decision.

The Tornados are coming off of a program-best 9-3 record that saw them win six-straight games, all in the month of March. Head Coach Jim Fritz and Assistant Coach Arno Olivier head into their first season at the helm of BC Tornados Men's Lacrosse looking to build upon that success and expand the program's reach.

"I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish with this team," added Coach Fritz. "We are excited to send our seniors off on a strong note this year."

Along with being eligible for USA South regular season honors, the Tornados will seek entry into the ECAC postseason. Brevard College joined the ECAC while in the midst of NCAA Division III reclassification, and the 2018 Brevard College Tornados Women's Soccer team became the first Brevard College team to compete in the ECAC postseason in the fall.
