Brevard Holds Off Hard-Charging Ferrum 11-10

FERRUM, Va.- Brevard earned its first road victory of the season by holding off a late rally attempt from Ferrum to earn the 11-10 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Brevard (5-2) racked up three consecutive goals in the fourth quarter from Jack Shade, Hewitt Farr and Kyle Hunziker to take the lead, and the defense kept Ferrum from tying the game after a late goal inside of a minute remaining to take home the win.

Shade's third goal of the game tied the game with 6:17 remaining, with Farr tallying the go-ahead goal less than a minute later. With 1:59 remaining, Hunziker found the back of the net to increase the Tornado lead to two goals with not enough time for the Panthers to make up the difference.

The Tornados were led on offense by hat tricks from Shade and Jackson McKaig, and goalkeeper Xzavier Holmes-Copeland logged 13 saves on 23 shot attempts to anchor the defensive end of the field. For Ferrum (4-5), the Panthers were led on offense from a three-goal performance from Tyler Fullem.

Brevard will return to action on March 13th, when the Tornados play host to Piedmont with the game set to start at 7 p.m.
