Brevard Men’s Golf Tees Off Sunday

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard men's golf returns to course this weekend when it heads to Monroe, N.C. to take part in the J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate hosted by Wingate University.

The tournament tees off Sunday morning at the Monroe Country Club, a par 72 course that is 6,725 yards in distance. With inclement weather in the forecast the teams will play 36 holes on Sunday and 18 on Monday to complete the event.

It is the third tournament in as many weekends for the Tornados, who finished 11th of 17 teams at the Richard Rendleman Invitational, hosted by Catawba College on Tuesday. Austin Fisher continued his solid play in the spring as he finished in a three-way tie for 18th.

Fisher, who fired an opening round 77, returned to the Country Club of Salisbury course on Tuesday and emerged with a 74 to close with a two-day score of 151 (+9). He was 13 shots off the pace set by Jordan Vogler (Lenoir-Rhyne) who took home the individual crown with a score of 138 (66-72; +4).

Fisher was one of two Brevard golfers to finish in the top 50 of the event along with Craig Stephen who was locked in a five-way battle for 32nd. Stephen, who carded a pair of 78's in the event, tallied a 156 (+14) in his second tournament of the spring.

Hugo Herrera had the third-best scorecard for the Tornados with a 168 (83-85; +26) that left him tied alongside Pfeiffer's John Kolaski in 67th. Teammate Thomas Purcell was close behind in 69th, one of four players to fire a 169 (82-87; +27) in the tournament.

Calum McAndrew completed the Brevard lineup with a 170 (81-89; +28) as he tied Livingstone College's Deangelo Stowe in 73rd.
