FLETCHER, N.C. – Two members of the Brevard men's golf team, Austin Fisher and Calum McAndrew, head to the clubhouse in the top 10 on the leaderboard following the first day of play at the Mars Hill Invitational held at the Broadmoor Golf Club. Kelsie Rhyne is also representing the Tornado women's team on the leaderboard at the close of the first round with a seventh place showing.

Fisher, who finished with a 76 in the opening round, is three shots back of Mars Hill's Harry Butler who wrapped up the afternoon at one over par. Fisher is locked in a four-way tie for second with Callum Ritchie (Mars Hill), Hunter Dillard (Pfeiffer) and Justin Dearth (Capital).

McAndrew, who closed the afternoon with a 78, is five shots back of the leader. He is one of seven players tied in ninth position.

The remainder of the Brevard men's team is sitting outside the top 20, including Craig Stephen (84 / +12; t24th), Thomas Purcell (84 / +12; t24th), Hugo Herrera (85 / +13; t29th) and Declan Addison (88 / +16, t33rd).

Rhyne, whose play on the links has been limited due to women's basketball this weekend, sits just six shots off the pace set by Montreat's Savannah Kummelman. Rhyne opened the tournament with an 85 (+13), while the leader posted a 79 (+7).

Courtney Sharp is sitting just outside the top 20 with an opening round 96 (21st). Taylor Scovel will start day two in a tie for 24th with Sydney Fairchild (Montreat) after an opening round 99. Ashley Holland rounds out the scorecard for the Tornados with a 100 (+28) and is tied with Mars Hill's Jasmine Chesnut for 26th.
