Brevard Men’s Golf Opens Season at Anderson Invitational

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College men's golf team opens the 2017 fall season this week when it travels to Anderson, S.C. to compete in the Anderson Invitational.

The two-round event will take place at the Cobb's Glen Golf Course in Anderson, a 7,005-yard, par-72 course.

The Tornados, under the direction of new head coach Bob Winch, will head into the competition led by captains Austin Fisher and Craig Stephen. Also competing in the event will be Declan Addison, Calum McAndrew and Ben Kleppe.

Fisher saw action in two fall events during the 2016 season, making a pair of top 50 finishes along the way. His best performance came at the Etowah Intercollegiate, where he finished tied for 20th at the event after a score of 152. Fisher also competed in the State Farm Intercollegiate (Oct. 10-11), placing 47th after a score of 230.

Stephen, from Torphins, Scotland, wrapped up his fall slate by competing in four events. His best finish came at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate (Oct. 3-4), where he scored a 156 and finished tied for 25th. In total, Stephen had four top 50 finishes including solid outings at the Etowah Intercollegiate (27th place), State Farm Intercollegiate (t-36th) and Kiawah Island Invitational (t-50th).

Addison, who hails from Peterhead, Scotland, looks to cap off a solid senior campaign after playing in two events last fall. Addison's best finish in the 2016-17 season came at the Etowah Intercollegiate, where he finished tied for 31st after posting a 157. He also competed at the State Farm Intercollegiate last October, firing a 263.

McAndrew, one of four seniors on the 2017-18 roster, will be looking to get his final campaign to a quick start. In the fall 2016 campaign McAndrew competed in the Etowah Intercollegiate and State Farm Intercollegiate, finishing 45th and 65th, respectively. His best two-day performance was at the Etowah Intercollegiate (Sept. 19-20), firing a round of 168 (+24).

Kleppe is the lone underclassmen competing at the Anderson Invitational.
