Kaylin Johnson enters his eighth season with the men’s basketball program after joining the staff for the 2012-2013 season and was promoted to Associate Head Coach in July 2018.

In his time with the Tornados, Johnson has helped head coach Lee Burgess turn the Tornados into a consistent contender for postseason play. Brevard finished the regular season at 12-16 with a 10-12 conference mark in Johnson's third year with the program, earning a trip to the South Atlantic Conference Championship after winning the final two games of the season in dramatic fashion. He helped mentor two SAC Players of the Week and a first team all-state and all-conference selection in 2014-2015.

A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Johnson spent the fall of 2012 as a student assistant with the men’s basketball program at his alma mater, Samford University. Johnson's duties as a student assistant included breaking down opponent’s film, assisting with film exchange, and also serving as a student manager during practice.

Johnson was a four-year member of the men’s basketball program at Samford, playing under Brevard head coach Lee Burgess. During his career, he appeared in over 80 games for the Bulldogs. He received the Most Improved Player Award following the 2009-2010 season. Johnson also served as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee from 2010-2011.

Johnson graduated from Samford in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Sport Administration and a minor in General Business.
