Brevard and Piedmont Set to Meet at the Bosh

GAME NOTES: PIEDMONT VS BREVARD

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College Tornados Men's Basketball team (4-12, 1-8 USAS) will square off with the Piedmont Lions (2-15, 2-9 USAS) on Tuesday evening at the Boshamer Gymnasium. This USA South tilt will tip-off at 7:30 p.m.

The Lions are currently sitting at sixth in the USA South West Division, while the Tornados are in seventh. With a win on Tuesday, BC can leapfrog Piedmont, and surpass its 2017-18 win total (four).

Brevard comes into play after a tough home loss to LaGrange, 83-48. Junior forward Levi Lamb led the way with 15 points and four rebounds, while freshman guard Messiah Pankey added a double-digit scoring effort of 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including two 3-pointers.

Piedmont is coming off a 2-2 USA South stretch, which includes its first two victories of 2018-19. The Lions earned their first win of the season at home against William Peace, claiming a commanding 73-54 triumph. The very next day, Piedmont welcomed Pfeiffer University, pulling away in the final seconds for an 82-78 victory. The Lions have subsequently fallen in their last two games to formidable conference foes Maryville and Huntingdon.

Despite his team's recent stretch, Levi Lamb has remained in the conference's top-ten in scoring average. Lamb is putting up 16.4 points-per-game, which ranks seventh overall in the USA South. This scoring output comes on an efficient 50.3% from the field, including 33.3% from long range.

Freshman guard Messiah Pankey continues his emergence with the Tornados, garnering the last six starts at the point guard position. The Durham, N.C. native has tallied four double-digit scoring outputs in BC's last six games: (10, Jan. 6), (14, Jan. 9), (15, Jan. 16), (11, Jan. 19).

The Tornados will look to gain their offensive identity back within the confines of The Bosh, which is that of an efficient scoring team. Despite recent offensive struggles, the Tornados still rank in the upper echelon of USA South schools in field goal percentage (45.1%).

After its home contest with Piedmont, the Tornados hit the road once again. BC travels to Lookout Mountain, Ga. to face the USA South West Division-leading Covenant College Scots (11-6, 10-0 USAS) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. before heading to Maryville, Tenn to battle the defending USA South Conference Tournament Champion Maryville College Scots (10-6, 6-3 USAS) on Saturday at 6 p.m.
