Pfeiffer vs Brevard Highlights

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College Tornados Men's Basketball team (4-10, 1-6 USAS) fell in conference action late Friday evening to the Pfeiffer University Falcons (7-6, 2-4 USAS) 100-80 at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
Brevard sophomore Demari Hopper tied his season-high scoring mark, tallying 14 points on 4-of-9 shooting, which included 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Cannon Lamb provided 11 points, four assists, and a team-high seven rebounds in reserve action, while BC's leading scorer Levi Lamb added 12 points, three rebounds, and three assists to the Tornados' efforts.
The Tornados' bench contributed heavily in the contest, as BC's reserves outscored Pfeiffer's 44-33 on the evening.
The Falcons were led by USA South leading scorer Kyle Ridley, who tallied 27 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Ridley shot 11-of-19 from the floor while also dishing out six assists. Tyjarek Simmons added 21 points on an efficient 8-of-14 clip, including a game-high three 3-pointers made.
Pfeiffer used an onslaught of fast-paced tempo throughout the night, getting out on the break whenever possible to dominate the pace of play. The USA South scoring leaders recorded 23 fast break points, 23 points off turnovers, and 42 points in the paint.
The Falcons' carried a high shooting percentage throughout the contest, hitting 35-of-66 (53%) compared to Brevard's 27-of-61 (44.3%) clip.
Pfeiffer wasted no time early on, jumping out to a quick 13-4 lead in the first three minutes of action. Messiah Pankey, who made his fourth consecutive start for the Tornados, ended the Falcons' run with a long-range shot to bring the game within six points, 13-7.
Brevard gained some traction in the first half as a Cannon Lamb 3-pointer brought BC within five points, 20-15. However, with the game sitting at 31-24 in favor of the Falcons, Pfeiffer would string together a quick 9-2 scoring run over the span of just 1:28 to swell its lead to a comfortable 40-26 cushion. That lead would grow, as the Falcons carried a 56-35 advantage into the break.
The Tornados came out with a fiery effort early in the second stanza. BC used a game-high 9-0 scoring run after the first media timeout to cut Pfeiffer's lead to 63-54 with 13:16 left to play.
After the second media timeout of the second half, the Tornados would score six unanswered points to trim the Falcons' lead to 68-60 with 10:25 remaining.
However, the margin would still prove to be too much for the Tornados to overcome, as the fast-paced Pfeiffer play style helped the Falcons shut the door on Brevard's comeback bid. After the Tornados cut Pfeiffer's lead to seven points at 74-67 with 7:17 left in the game, the Falcons put their foot on the gas, outscoring Brevard 26-13 the rest of the way to claim a 100-80 USA South victory over the Tornados.
The Tornados will return to action with a road trip to Berea, Ky. next Wednesday, January 16 as Brevard meets the Berea College Mountaineers (7-7, 2-5 USAS) for a 7 p.m. tip-off. Brevard will look for similar success against Berea as it had last season, as the Tornados swept the Mountaineers.
