SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Brevard College Men's Basketball team (1-3) dropped a game to host Sewanee College 64-55 Saturday in day two of the Lon Varnell Classic.
Levi Lamb led the Tornados with 23 points, his second straight 20-plus point performance. Lamb shot an efficient 10-of-15 from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Lamb's 23-point outing marked his single-game career high, with his previous coming against William Peace in 2017-18 (22 points).
Demari Hopper also scored in double figures for BC with 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Drew Mosley added six points, and Qadhafi Turner chipped in five points.
Cannon Lamb led the Tornados on the glass with four rebounds in a game where nine different players pulled down rebounds.
Brevard trailed the entire contest, falling behind 11-4 after eight minutes to play after struggling on offense to open the game.
Lamb hit his first three-pointer of the day to start to ignite the Tornado offense, yet Sewanee continued to control the action for most of the first half taking a 27-17 lead into intermission.
Two minutes into the second half, Hopper hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 27-20. Lamb then delivered with his second three-pointer of the day to cut Sewanee's lead to six points with 14 minutes to play.
The Tigers, however, would regain the momentum down the stretch to open up a 13-point lead en route to the 64-55 win.
Brevard shot 43% from the field, while Sewanee shot 46%. The Tornados made five three-pointers, all coming from Lamb and Hopper, on 15 attempts from beyond the arc.
Sewanee capitalized on 22 points off 14 BC turnovers as well as 15 second-half points.
Brevard's bench was more efficient, outscoring Sewanee 10-5.
Brevard returns to action with a home game vs. Bob Jones University on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
