Brevard Looks to Build on Momentum This Weekend

BREVARD, N.C.- After their thrilling last second victory over N.C. Wesleyan on Sunday, the Brevard men's basketball team will look to build on its success in back-to-back road games against Huntingdon on Friday night and LaGrange on Saturday evening.

Brevard (4-10) is heading into its game against Huntingdon winning two out of their last three games, as both games went down to the wire with the Tornados coming out on top. In its most recent game, N.C. Wesleyan led by as many as 17 points before Brevard came storming back in the second half, as sophomore Levi Lamb knocked down the game-winning 3-pointer from the left wing as time expired.

Levi Lamb scored all of his 18 points in the final 10 minutes of the game against the Bishops, shooting 7-of-8 from the floor with three treys. Sophomore JaMarquis Johnson also finished the game with 18 points to go along with his five rebounds and three assists.

On the season, Johnson continues to lead the team with 14.5 points per game, followed by senior Stevie Williams (12.5) and Levi Lamb (10.1).

This will be the second meeting of the season with the Huntingdon, as the Tornados suffered a 75-65 setback to the Hawks on Dec. 2, 2017. In the game, Brevard led by as many as 11 points before Huntingdon rallied in the second half to take the victory in Boshamer Gymnasium.

Huntingdon (7-9) has lost back-to-back contests heading into the game on Saturday, with the most recent contest resulting in a 101-94 defeat on the road at the hands of Greensboro.

The Hawks are led on offense by junior Kyante Pines and senior Brandon McLean, averaging 14.4 and 14.0 points per game, respectively. McLean is also a force cleaning the boards, as he ranks fifth in the USA South Conference with 8.1 rebounds per game.

The game against LaGrange will also be a rematch from earlier in the season, as the Panthers controlled the second half and came away with the 85-76 win over Brevard on Dec. 20, 2017.

LaGrange (9-7) is winners of four of its last five games, emerging with an  81-70 win over Piedmont in its most recent outing. On the season, Alex Bonner leads the team with 18.9 points per game, while also ranking fifth in the USA South Conference in points per game.

Tipoff against the Hawks is set for 8:30 p.m. EST, while the game against LaGrange is set to tipoff at 5:00 p.m.
