Tornados Travel to Piedmont

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard men's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday when it heads to Demorest, Ga., for a clash with Piedmont College at 7:30 p.m.

The Tornados (2-8) are in search of their second win in the last three contests after opening the month with an 87-78 triumph over Berea. Brevard is looking to rebound from a six-point setback to Ferrum on Saturday, Jan. 6, and in the process earn its second road victory in 2017-18.

Sophomore JaMarquis Johnson continues to lead the Tornados offensively, averaging 14.5 points per game. A bulk of Johnson's 145 points this season have come from beyond the arc, where he is hitting 24-of-57 (42.1%). He has also been active on the glass, pulling down 42 rebounds (39 defensive).

Point guard Stevie Williams joins Johnson among the team's leaders, averaging 13.6 points per game, as he has knocked down 50-of-122 (41%) attempts from the floor. Williams also has 42 rebounds, however he leads the team with 17 offensive boards.

The Lions moved to 6-6 on the season with a pair of victories over LaGrange (70-68) and William Peace (80-72) last week.

Piedmont's lineup features four players averaging double figures, including Justin Vallejo (17.5 ppg), Marquise Lanier (14.1), Taylor Mills (11.4) and Elijah Alston (10.1). Vallejo is the primary source of offense for the Lions, hitting 86-of-166 (51.8%) from the floor, while Lanier ranks second on the unit by converting 57-of-114 (50%) of his field goal attempts.
